Welcome to Ms. Tang's!
Hello! I'm Ms. Tang, the Independence Study Program teacher for Century High School and Independence High School. I am located on the Century High School campus in Room 5A. My program consists of Century High School students that need a small number of credits to graduate or are on the waiting list to enroll into the Century all-day program. In addition, I have Independence High School students that are on a stipulated explusion status. I work with students in all subject matters.
My students are provided with a very flexible, comfortable, and educational school culture. Students are encouraged to come on additional days and extend their stay in my classroom:)
Ms. Tang's Expectations
In order for students to complete 30 credits in one semester (as they would in a comprehensive high school), they are given two courses and are expected to complete these two courses in 5 weeks.
(i.e. 2 courses x 5 credits= 10 credits x 3 (5 week periods)= 30 credits/semester)
Students are encouraged to complete credits beyond the traditionally earned 30 credits due to our flexible school environment. They are able to move ahead and complete courses in as few as two-three weeks.
Students are expected to have an understanding of the subject matter. They are given pop quizzes/tests randomly, yet are aware that these quizzes/tests often come after a chapter or course is completed. Students need to reach a proficient level in all areas.
In addition, students must show full respect towards me and their peers at all time.
